Kangulumira Public Secondary School Goes Digital with Akademik IT

Akademik IT Transforming Government Education in Kangulumira

Kangulumira Public Secondary School, a government-aided institution in Kangulumira Town Council, Kayunga District, has embraced a fully digitized environment with Akademik IT’s school management system. Launched in 2025, this platform integrates student, academic, and financial management, streamlining operations for one of Uganda’s rural government schools.

Enhancing Education Access

The Akademik IT system automates key processes, making school management more efficient for parents, students, and staff. Headteacher Dr. George Wateta praised the initiative: “This digital upgrade supports our commitment to quality education, aligning with Uganda’s vision for modernized government schools.”

Key features include:

  • Student Management: Online enrollment and real-time student records.
  • Academic Tracking: Automated grading and progress reports for parents.
  • Financial Tools: Simplified fee tracking and payments, accessible via mobile.

The system supports Uganda’s Universal Secondary Education (USE) program, enhancing efficiency in government schools like Kangulumira Public.

Akademik IT’s Contribution

Akademik IT, a Ugandan school management software provider since 2005, developed the platform. CEO Stephen Okhutu stated, “Our ISO 9001:2015-certified system offers over 20 features tailored for Ugandan schools, ensuring scalability and ease of use.” This expertise helps Kangulumira Public modernize its operations.

Why It Matters

As a government school in Kangulumira Town Council, Kangulumira Public serves a rural community with limited digital infrastructure. The system aligns with the Ministry of Education and Sports’ Education Digital Agenda (2021–2025), promoting ICT integration. To address connectivity challenges, Akademik IT plans to offer offline access and training for parents and staff.
