EMPOWERING GIRLS’ EDUCATION: ADRIFT/LEMALA WILD WATERS COOPERATIVE GROUP LAUNCHES SANITARY PAD DONATION DRIVE IN KAYUNGA

Kayunga, Uganda – October 27, 2025 – In a heartwarming display of community solidarity, the Adrift/Lemala Wild Waters Cooperative Group made a significant visit to our school today, kicking off a vital sanitary pad donation campaign aimed at supporting girls’ education across nearby institutions.

The initiative, which unfolded on this crisp Monday morning, saw representatives from the cooperative group deliver essential hygiene supplies to the school and extend the outreach to surrounding educational facilities in the Kayunga district. This timely intervention addresses a pressing issue that has long hindered academic progress for young girls in rural Uganda: the lack of access to menstrual hygiene products.

Kayinja Patrick, one of the key donors and spokespersons for the group, highlighted the motivations behind the campaign, “It was discovered that a number of girl children are missing lessons because they lack sanitary pads,” Patrick explained. “And they discovered that most families can not afford basic needs for their children, so this forced them to come up with this campaign

The Adrift/Lemala Wild Waters Cooperative Group, known for its community-focused projects tied to eco-tourism and water conservation efforts in the region, framed this donation as a natural extension of their mission to foster sustainable development. “By ensuring girls can attend school without interruption, we’re investing in the future of our community,” Patrick added, emphasizing the group’s commitment to long-term impact.

School officials expressed profound gratitude, noting that the donated sanitary pads would immediately benefit over 200 students in the initial phase. “This isn’t just about pads; it’s about dignity, attendance, and opportunity,” said the school’s headteacher, Dr. GeorgeWateta, who requested anonymity to protect student privacy.
